How to Finally Choose Your Best Business Idea (Free Decision Template Inside)

Struggling to Choose a Business Idea? Here’s the Fix

It’s Friday again, and I know what you’re thinking: “I’ve got all these business ideas… now what?”

Look, I get it.

It’s easy to feel like you need to work on everything to keep all your options open.

But here’s the truth—you don’t need a million ideas, you need one clear, focused path.

Let me show you how to get there.

Let’s Start with Your Why and Non-Negotiable's

In last week’s newsletter, I walked you through figuring out your why and setting your non-negotiables.

If you missed it or didn’t get a chance to fill out the worksheet, don’t worry—you can still grab it.

Now that you’ve got that foundation, it’s time to dive into evaluating your business ideas.

Why You Need This Process (Let’s Be Real…)

When you don’t narrow down your business idea, you end up spinning your wheels.

Trust me, I’ve been there.

Back when I was juggling multiple ideas, I felt busy—but I wasn’t making real progress.

I wasn’t clear on my why or my non-negotiables.

What does that look like?

It looks like late nights working on something that doesn’t feel right, hustling for an idea you’re not even excited about, and eventually feeling like you’re chasing your tail.

Sound familiar?

Here’s Why That’s a Problem

This leads to burnout—fast.

You end up throwing energy at ideas that might not even align with the life you want to build.

And worse? You get nowhere.

If you’re not clear on why you’re doing this in the first place (your why) or what you absolutely will not compromise on (your non-negotiables), you’re building a business that runs your life, not the other way around.

I learned this the hard way.

When I first started my business, I didn’t know my non-negotiables.

I said yes to everything—1:1 clients, social media marketing, working weekends. And guess what?

I hated it.

I built a business that sucked up all my time and didn’t fit the life I wanted.

So I had to go back to square one: my why and my non-negotiables.

Step 1: Brainstorm Freely (No Judging Yourself)

Start by writing down all your ideas.

I’m serious—everything.

Don’t filter anything out yet.
Maybe one idea feels way out there, but write it down anyway.

You’ll sort through it later.

This step is all about seeing the big picture.

Step 2: Evaluate Each Idea (Time for Tough Love)

Now, here’s where we get serious.

Take a look at each idea and ask yourself:

  • Does this fit with my skills? (Can I see myself doing this for the next few years?)
  • Am I actually excited about this? (Be real with yourself.)
  • Does this align with my non-negotiables? (Will this business let me live the life I want?)

Look, I know it’s hard to let go of certain ideas, but this is where the magic happens.

You’re narrowing it down to the one idea that makes sense for you right now.

Step 3: Choose One Idea (Here’s Where It Gets Real)

This is the part where you commit to one idea. I know, I know—it feels scary, like you’re locking yourself into something and closing the door on all your other ideas.

But you’re not.

You’re just focusing on what’s going to move the needle right now.

Trust me on this—once you commit to one idea, you’ll have so much more clarity and energy.

Pro Tip: The idea that scares you a little? That’s probably the one with the most potential. Lean into it—it’s scary because it’s pushing you out of your comfort zone. (I promise, that’s a good thing.)

So, What Happens After You Narrow Down Your Idea?

Now that you’ve chosen your idea, it’s time to go deep.

You’ll start creating a plan, setting realistic goals, and getting your business off the ground.

No more bouncing between ideas. You’re focused, and you’re ready to make serious progress.

Need Some Extra Help?
